Early on Saturday morning, a devastating accident involving a car and a motorcycle on the ES-257 highway in Aracruz, Espírito Santo, led to the deaths of two young men, both aged 19. According to the Military Police reports, a bus driver witnessed the car traveling in the wrong direction before the fatal impact occurred. The motorcycle was struck head-on by the oncoming vehicle, leading to a catastrophic collision that left the motorcycle overturned and ablaze shortly after the accident.

Responding to the scene, the bus driver initially attempted to assist the victims before a bystander intervened to extinguish the fire on the motorcycle. Unfortunately, one of the young men died at the scene, while the other, who was transported to the hospital by emergency services (Samu), succumbed to his injuries en route. The identities of the victims have not been released, and it remains unclear which of the two was riding the motorcycle at the time of the incident.

In the aftermath of the accident, police discovered that the driver of the car fled the scene, leaving behind a female passenger who suffered facial injuries and was in shock. She was unable to provide critical information about the crash. This incident raises serious questions about road safety and the responsibility of drivers, particularly in relation to reckless driving behaviours such as operating a vehicle in the wrong direction on a busy highway.
