Video shows moments of monoplane crash in Manaus
A video circulating on social media captures the crash of a monoplane during a training flight in Manaus, Brazil, resulting in one fatality and one serious injury.
A dramatic video that has emerged on social media shows the moment a monoplane crashed shortly after takeoff from the Aeroclube de Manaus in Brazil. The incident occurred on Saturday morning when the aircraft, during a training flight, failed to gain altitude and descended near the runway area. Tragically, the pilot, Fernando Lúcio Moreira dos Santos, who had recently become a father, died at the scene of the accident.
The second occupant of the aircraft, Ulisses de Oliveira, an entrepreneur completing his pilot training, survived the crash but suffered serious injuries, including cranial and thoracic trauma. He was promptly rescued and is currently in critical condition at the João Lúcio Hospital and Emergency Care Unit. The circumstances of the crash raise concerns about the safety measures in place for training flights at the aeroclub.
Authorities, including the Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services, responded swiftly to the scene, highlighting the immediate risk to safety in such training operations. With one person dead and another fighting for their life, the incident underscores the potential dangers associated with small aircraft operations, particularly in instructional contexts where experienced pilots are mentoring trainees.
