Sergipe is among the states with an increase in the circulation of Influenza A, points out Fiocruz
Sergipe has reported an increase in the circulation of Influenza A, according to a bulletin from Fiocruz, with national implications for respiratory illnesses.
The state of Sergipe has been identified as one of the regions experiencing an increase in Influenza A virus circulation, as highlighted in a recent bulletin from the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz). This uptick contributes to a broader national trend of rising cases of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SRAG). The bulletin outlines that this spike is particularly noted in most northeastern states, with the exception of Piauí, and parts of the northern and southeastern regions of Brazil, namely Mato Grosso, Amapá, Pará, Rondônia, Rio de Janeiro, and Espírito Santo.
In response to this health concern, the Brazilian Ministry of Health has formulated three national vaccination strategies aimed at increasing vaccine coverage and reducing preventable diseases by 2026. A significant aspect of these strategies includes the upcoming influenza vaccination campaign, set to commence on March 28. This proactive measure aims to mitigate the impact of the inflating respiratory illnesses caused by the Influenza A virus, which currently poses a considerable risk to public health.
Additionally, 180,000 doses of the influenza vaccine have already arrived in Sergipe, marking a critical step in addressing the health crisis. The timely distribution of these vaccines is essential given the escalating situation, as authorities aim to bolster immunity within the population and curtail the spread of the virus during the upcoming flu season.
