Woman arrested for leaving autistic son alone in Valinhos; guards found drugs in the house
A 30-year-old woman in Valinhos, Brazil, was arrested for leaving her autistic son alone at home, where authorities found the child appearing drugged and drugs in the residence.
In Valinhos, São Paulo, a 30-year-old woman was arrested for neglecting her six-year-old autistic son, who was found alone in their home during a police intervention prompted by a phone tip-off. According to the Municipal Guards, the child, diagnosed with level three autism, appeared to be in a state of stupor upon their arrival. The boy was discovered lying on a bed, seemingly unresponsive, raising immediate concerns for his safety and well-being.
The police investigation revealed the presence of two bricks of what appeared to be marijuana within the residence, intensifying the situation surrounding the mother's accountability. When located, the mother claimed her son was under the influence of prescribed medication, asserting that he was left in the care of his father while she was working a secondary job with a 21-year-old friend living with them. This narrative, however, was called into question by the circumstances of the boy's condition and the drugs found at the scene.
Additionally, it was noted that the family had another child, just two months old, which further complicated the case of child neglect. Local authorities, including the Child Protective Services, were alerted to the situation, indicating the potential for ongoing investigations into parental responsibilities and the broader implications of drug use and child welfare in the community.
