A person fell into a deep sewage well in Kittilä, Finland, and was rescued after being trapped for about twenty minutes.

On a Saturday afternoon in Kittilä, Finland, a person fell into a deep sewage well located alongside the Sodankyläntie road. According to the Lapland Rescue Service, the well was filled with sewage, and the person was able to call for help after falling in. A nearby dog walker heard the cries for help and quickly threw a dog leash into the well, which the individual was able to wrap around their wrist to assist with their rescue.

Rescue teams arrived on the scene shortly after receiving the emergency call at 1:24 PM, deploying six units from the rescue service. The individual remained in the well for approximately twenty minutes before rescuers successfully lifted them out. After the incident, the victim was transported for further medical evaluation. The cause of the fall is still under investigation, but it has been noted that the sewage well appeared to have some form of cover; however, the person did not fall through it.

This incident highlights the potential dangers of deep sewage wells and the importance of timely emergency responses.
