Belgian shepherd puppy is the new member of the BH Municipal Guard; public chooses name
A Belgian Malinois puppy has joined the Municipal Guard of Belo Horizonte and the public is invited to vote on her name.
A new Belgian Malinois puppy has recently joined the Municipal Guard in Belo Horizonte, showcasing her charm as she embarks on a journey to become a trained police dog. At just under two months old, she arrived at the Dog Operations Group (GOC) on March 7 and is currently undergoing training for important public safety missions. The puppy is not yet named, prompting the Belo Horizonte City Hall to hold an online poll for the public to suggest names until April 2, with options including Atena, Hera, and Kira.
The Municipal Guard emphasizes that shorter names are preferable for training purposes as they allow the dog to respond to commands more swiftly. The training process is designed to be engaging and fun for the puppy, taking place under the guidance of municipal agents. It is set to last approximately 18 months, during which she will learn essential skills for her future role in public safety and security.
This initiative not only introduces a new canine member to the force but also strengthens the connection between the city government and its residents through participatory naming. It's a community-driven approach that encourages public involvement and fosters a sense of camaraderie in collective public safety efforts.
