Security Expert: Breaking Red Lines Translates Confrontation with Iran to Full-Scale War
An security expert warns that if red lines are breached, confrontation with Iran could escalate to a full-scale war.
A security expert, Major General Mohammed Abdul Wahid, has warned that the ongoing conflict involving American and Israeli forces against Iran might lead to a full-scale war if certain 'red lines' are crossed. The expert, speaking to Al Jazeera, highlighted that currently, the conflict is still below the threshold of a comprehensive war, as Iran pursues a strategy of attrition.
Major General Abdul Wahid pointed out that one of the most significant red lines is the entry of American troops into Iranian territory, which he believes would provoke a fierce response from the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, known for its elite units. This assertion comes in the context of escalating tensions in the region, alongside U.S. military considerations that include occupying an Iranian island as a potential option in their strategic maneuvers against Tehran.
Additionally, the expert analyzed U.S. President Donald Trump's statements emphasizing that the objective is not to overthrow the Iranian regime but to prevent it from acquiring nuclear weapons. This stance signifies a focused American approach towards the nuclear issue, especially as Iran maintains its narrative of nuclear knowledge and its ability to potentially rebuild its program in the future. Abdul Wahid concluded that any military escalation against Iran will encounter significant complications, given Tehran's current military and strategic stance.
