The event will be streamed live from 12:00 to 15:00, showcasing the conclusion of the 'Children, Youth, and Parents Jury 2025' program in Latvia.
The 'Children, Youth, and Parents Jury 2025' event in Latvia is set to conclude with a live stream, allowing viewers to participate from 12:00 to 15:00. This year's jury included an impressive 23,300 readers from Latvian schools and libraries, alongside involvement from 91 Latvian diaspora centers across 35 countries. The Latvian government supported this initiative through its Diaspora Law, ensuring books could reach readers worldwide, thereby fostering a strong cultural connection between the diaspora and Latvia.
This initiative has been widely embraced by thousands of librarians, teachers, and parents who passionately encouraged reading contemporary literature and providing reviews. This effort aligns with the innovative community engagement movement 'Restart Reading' initiated by the National Library of Latvia, as well as the strategic initiative 'The Right to Read: Riga Manifesto,' highlighting the importance of access to literature for all readers.
In the 2025 Children's, Youth, and Parents Jury collection, 29 books across six age groups were included: 5+, 7+, 9+, 11+, 15+, and a Parents' Jury category. The selection predominantly featured original works, showcasing 16 books from Latvian authors, demonstrating the rich literary culture and resources available for youth engagement in reading.
