The Lithuanian army denies R. Žemaitaitis' spreading of lies: we train year-round
The Lithuanian army has refuted claims by R. Žemaitaitis regarding the timing of military exercises, asserting they conduct training year-round under various conditions.
The Lithuanian army has issued a statement denying allegations made by R. Žemaitaitis that military trainings only occur during the summer months. The army emphasized its adherence to the principle of 'train as you fight', indicating that military preparations take place throughout the year across various weather conditions and at any time of day. This refutation comes in light of recent comments made by Žemaitaitis during a meeting with the Minister of National Defence, Robertas Kaunas, where he questioned the utilization of current training grounds for military exercises.
In the meeting, Žemaitaitis raised concerns about the planning of military drills and suggested that existing facilities could suffice instead of developing new locations, such as the proposed site in Kapčiamiestis. He implied that training exercises required extensive planning and noted a perceived interval of 2-3 weeks between sessions. The army, however, has countered this narrative, stating that the Pabradė training ground is at full capacity, indicating that they are continually engaged in military exercises and operations regardless of the season.
The debate touches on the logistical aspects of military training in Lithuania and raises questions about the adequacy of current facilities to meet operational demands. By challenging the claims made by Žemaitaitis, the Lithuanian army aims to clarify its commitment to security readiness and the rigorous training requirements necessary for modern military operations, reinforcing the idea that military readiness is a continuous process, rather than confined to specific periods of the year.
