According to Knut Laurits Slartmann, the operations leader in the police log, the tourists managed to send a distress signal, prompting the swift response from local authorities. All eight tourists were reported to be in good health upon their retrieval, but the incident highlights the dangers associated with winter outdoor activities in regions with known avalanche risks.
The weather service, Varsom, has issued warnings regarding high avalanche risks throughout Troms, assigning a danger level of three, indicating a considerable threat.
