Women to Women. Czech Breweries Have Started Making 'Pink' Beer

Czech breweries are launching a new 'pink' beer to support women in the brewing industry, emphasizing female collaboration and empowerment.

Czech breweries are innovating by producing a new type of beer dubbed 'pink' beer, aimed at celebrating and supporting women in the brewing industry. One notable brewery, Pivovar Elektrárna, located in a historical building in Plzeň, has been at the forefront of this initiative, significantly contributing to the rising visibility of female brewers. The brewing process involves collaboration among women, showcasing their skills and talent in what has traditionally been a male-dominated industry.

The brewing team, led by experienced brewer Lenka Straková, recently crafted a bitter lager that after several days of fermentation is set to become part of a larger movement promoting female empowerment in brewing. Straková, along with her colleagues, achieved a record output last year, brewing a total of 6,900 hectoliters of various types of lagers and special beers. This effort not only highlights the growing role of women in the Czech brewing scene but also aims to create a supportive community among female brewers.

As the warmer weather approaches, Pivovar Elektrárna is prepared with a stock of well-aged pink beer, reflecting the brewery’s innovative and inclusive approach. This initiative is emblematic of a broader trend in the Czech Republic to recognize and uplift women within diverse sectors, encouraging others to participate in brewing and enriching the cultural tapestry of Czech beer. The new 'pink' beer could become a symbol of this movement, drawing attention to the significant contributions of women in a celebrated national industry.
