A group of young girls from Rio de Janeiro's public schools is set to perform at the Vatican, showcasing their musical talent on an international stage.
A group of 52 young girls from Rio de Janeiro, part of the Orquestra Sinfônica Juvenil Chiquinha Gonzaga, is scheduled to perform at the Vatican's St. Peter's Square at the end of April. This unique orchestra, founded in 2021, is composed exclusively of girls aged between 13 and 22 years, highlighting the significant role of women in Brazilian music as represented by their namesake, Chiquinha Gonzaga. This performance marks an important milestone for the orchestra, which aims to bring attention to the talent and dedication of young musicians in Brazil.
In addition to their upcoming performance, the orchestra's project spans a wider initiative that supports approximately 800 youths across 12 locations in the state of Rio de Janeiro.
