The first weekend of autumn has a cold front in the South and heat in much of Brazil; see forecast
The first weekend of autumn in Brazil features a mix of a cold front in the South and warm temperatures in other regions, particularly in the Southeast.
Autumn officially began in Brazil on Friday, but immediate weather changes are not expected. The first weekend of this new season still retains summer-like conditions in many areas, with predominantly sunny weather and high temperatures during the afternoon in regions like São Paulo, where temperatures may soar close to 30°C. Meanwhile, in Curitiba, the heat will be more moderate with partly cloudy skies anticipated for Saturday.
However, the weather in the South is set to diverge from this pattern due to a cold front causing severe storms and heavy rainfall, particularly affecting Rio Grande do Sul throughout the weekend. Contrastingly, parts of the Southeast and Northeast coast are expected to experience clearer conditions with varying clouds and minimal rain. The presence of sunlight is also anticipated in these areas which allows for outdoor activities despite the seasonal transition.
In the Central-West and North regions of Brazil, humidity levels remain high, leading to frequent thunderstorms, especially during afternoon and evening hours. The overall weather pattern reflects the variability characteristic of the country's climate during seasonal shifts, with different regions experiencing contrasting conditions as summer gradually gives way to autumn.
