Suspect of killing a teenager with a stray bullet in RO is shot dead in Bolivia

A Brazilian man, Luís Gabriel Vinhorque de Souza, who was under investigation for the murder of a teenager in Brazil, was shot dead in Bolivia.

Luís Gabriel Vinhorque de Souza, a 22-year-old Brazilian, was fatally shot in Guayaramerín, a Bolivian city bordering Rondônia on the night of October 19. He was previously being investigated for two crimes in Brazil, one of which involved the murder of a student, Arthur Amora Ribeiro, who died in 2022 from a stray bullet while flying a kite in Porto Velho. Footage recorded by local residents captured the moment when a man approached and fired multiple shots at Vinhorque, who was already on the ground when the attack occurred.

Authorities stated the shooting took place in Hernán Roca Square, in the center of Guayaramerín. According to Ivan Bernal Salazar, the commander of the Beni department police, a person in a white car unleashed a barrage of gunfire targeting Vinhorque and another individual riding on a motorcycle. Vinhorque succumbed to his injuries at the scene, while the second victim was taken to the hospital for treatment.

During the investigation, police discovered a Glock 9 mm handgun with 17 rounds in the deceased's possession. This incident highlights the pervasive issue of violence and crime in border areas between Brazil and Bolivia, raising concerns about law enforcement efficacy and the challenges of inter-country crime management.
