Interpol Infuses Melancholy at Lollapalooza and Plays Unreleased Music
The American band Interpol brought a melancholic atmosphere to Lollapalooza Brazil while performing some of their music, including an unreleased track.
Interpol headlined the first day of Lollapalooza Brazil at the AutΓ³dromo de Interlagos in SΓ£o Paulo, casting a mood of melancholy with their signature rock sound. Known for their dark and atmospheric music, the band has a long history with the festival, having performed in previous editions in 2015 and 2019. This year marked their seventh performance in Brazil, showcasing their continued popularity and connection with local fans.
In a pre-festival warm-up show on Thursday, March 19, the band performed at the Audio venue in Barra Funda, enhancing their presence ahead of the main event. Despite the absence of their drummer, Sam Fogarino, who is recovering from spinal surgery, the band maintained their sound by enlisting Urian Hackney as a temporary replacement. The change did not seem to impact their performance, as they delivered a captivating show to an enthusiastic crowd.
Frontman Paul Banks, alongside guitarist Daniel Kessler, led the group through their set, engaging the audience with both classic hits and a new, unreleased track. The performance not only underlines Interpol's enduring influence in the rock genre but also highlights the rich cultural landscape of live music within Brazil, especially as major festivals like Lollapalooza continue to thrive in the country.
