House Majority Whip Tom Emmer has voiced strong support for the Stop Citizenship Abuse and Misrepresentation (SCAM) Act, aimed at allowing the U.S. government to revoke citizenship from naturalized citizens who are found to have participated in terrorist activities, fraud, or espionage. This legislative initiative comes in light of a series of recent terrorist attacks allegedly perpetrated by individuals who had obtained their citizenship through naturalization, which Emmer argues underlines significant flaws in current U.S. immigration laws.

Emmer, hailing from Minnesota, emphasized the urgency of addressing this issue, stating that the public should not tolerate individuals who exploit the generosity of the American system and subsequently align themselves with terrorist organizations or engage in serious criminal activities. The SCAM Act, introduced earlier this year, aims to ensure that those who betray the trust granted to them through citizenship face severe repercussions, including denaturalization and deportation.

With the proposed legislation, which has also been supported in the Senate by Sen. Eric Schmitt, Emmer asserts that the time is ripe to fortify immigration laws to prevent further exploitation and to enhance national security.
