These discussions were initiated following a visit to Washington by Rasmussen and Greenland's previous Foreign Minister, Vivian Motzfeldt, in January. Løkke emphasized the importance of keeping details surrounding the meetings, such as their frequency and deadlines, private, in agreement with American representatives.
