The Finnish Ministry of Finance has proposed significant budget cuts affecting Kela and other public institutions, raising concerns about potential layoffs.
According to reports from Iltalehti, the Finnish Ministry of Finance has included substantial savings in its public financial plan, which affects key institutions like Kela, the Finnish Institute of Occupational Health, the Finnish Forest Agency, and the Finnish Forest Administration. The total savings projected equal the salary increases planned for the years 2026 and 2027. Specifically, Kela is expected to face a cut of €20.7 million next year, while the Finnish Institute of Occupational Health must reduce its budget by €2.8 million, the Finnish Forest Agency by €1.7 million, and the Forest Administration by €1.4 million.
