MRB Poll: What Kind of Government Do Citizens Want – What is the Dynamics of New Parties
A recent MRB poll reveals that Greek citizens seem to favor a coalition government after the next elections, with significant insights into party dynamics.
According to the second part of the MRB poll conducted for Open, Greek citizens appear to prefer a coalition government in the wake of the next elections. The survey indicates that the ruling party's support is solid, with a 76.6% loyalty rate among its electorate, while the main opposition party, PASOK, has a lower loyalty rate of 65.7%. These statistics reveal the current political landscape where citizens are contemplating the potential for collaboration between various parties rather than endorsing a single-party government.
Questions regarding the potential support for new parties have also yielded interesting results. When asked about the likelihood of supporting a new party led by former Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, only 20.9% of respondents indicated that they would definitely or probably vote for it. In contrast, a significant majority, 76.6%, expressed they would definitely or probably not support such a party. Similarly, with regard to the party led by Maria Karystianou, 30.6% expressed potential support, while 62.5% were not inclined to vote for her.
Regarding the current Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, nearly 27.2% of respondents believe he and his party, New Democracy (ND), deserve a third term in government, while a predominant 67.9% feel it is time for a governmental change. This suggests that while the current government has a substantial level of support, there is also a strong desire for new leadership and potentially a shift toward a coalition scenario that reflects diverse political sentiments in Greece.
