The remarks came as Santos was recounting a personal experience of racism at work, prompting him to begin recording Fortes' response. In the video, Fortes made derogatory comments, suggesting a supposed 'smell' associated with skin color and even comparing it to his previous relationships. After the video went viral, Fortes expressed regret for his statements; however, he also reported receiving death threats.
