They want the police to find the one who wrote the post

Pétur Gautur, an artist, is preparing to file a complaint against allegations made about him in a Facebook group, asserting he's innocent of a serious crime.

Pétur Gautur, an Icelandic artist, has taken a firm stand against allegations made about him in a Facebook group called "Áfram stelpur!" which has approximately 6,500 members. These allegations suggested that he may be involved in suspicious activity concerning an 8 to 9-year-old boy, accompanied by a image of a mattress and pillow at a location. Pétur has engaged lawyer Ingvar Smári Birgisson to assist in preparing a complaint to the police to address these serious claims.

Ingvar Smári Birgisson emphasized the importance of clarifying Pétur's position and defending him against what could be considered one of the gravest accusations directed towards him. He argues that it's vital for his client to understand whether he’ll have to endure such severe treatment from the public without proper investigation into the claims. The situation has caused distress to Pétur, not only as an artist but personally as well due to the intensity of the allegations.

Further investigation revealed the allegations stem from a misunderstanding; the boy linked to him was, in fact, his grandchild, and the mattress was for Pétur's Swiss mountain dog. This revelation points toward potential defamation concerns in social media and underscores the serious nature of false accusations in contemporary digital spaces, highlighting the need for responsible discourse in online platforms.
