A Billion-dollar Business: The Treasurer of Slavia is the Happiest from European Cups

Czech football clubs earned approximately 65 million euros in this season's European cups, with Slavia Prague collecting the most at over 32 million euros.

Czech football clubs have collectively earned around 65 million euros in this season's European competitions, corresponding to roughly 1.59 billion Czech crowns. Leading this financial success is Slavia Prague, which capitalized on its participation in the group stage of the UEFA Champions League, garnering 32.22 million euros. Other clubs like Plzeň, Sparta, and Olomouc followed, earning 14.38 million euros, 10.14 million euros, and 6.8 million euros respectively. This season's earnings mirror last year's performance, with only a slight decrease of two million euros compared to the previous year.

Slavia is the only Czech club that managed to play in the main stage of the Champions League without needing to go through the qualification rounds as a champion. A significant portion of Slavia's income stemmed from a participation bonus, with each of the 36 teams in the competition receiving 18.62 million euros. In addition to their Champions League earnings, Czech clubs benefit from a value pillar system that divides financial distributions based on regional television market strength and a five-year club coefficient.

This financial performance underscores the growing competitiveness of Czech football on the European stage, highlighting the importance of participation in tournaments like the Champions League for revenue generation. As clubs continue to enhance their marketability and performance, the potential for increased earnings in the future remains promising, especially if they can sustain or improve their presence in European competitions.
