Eduardo Ferreira Trindade, a 34-year-old man, was tragically killed by a stray bullet after being caught in the crossfire of a gun battle in the Colubandê neighborhood of São Gonçalo, Rio de Janeiro, while he was out buying snacks with his wife. Witnesses reported that there was an exchange of gunfire between police and criminals following an attempted robbery. The incident occurred late in the evening on Thursday, October 19, highlighting the dangers of gun violence in urban areas.
The situation escalated when a police officer was robbed in the parking lot of a pharmacy, where his necklace and firearm were taken. In the midst of the chaos, three civil police officers dining nearby witnessed the robbery and attempted to intervene by approaching the suspect’s car. This led to a violent confrontation where multiple shots were fired, and unfortunately, Eduardo was struck in the neck, resulting in his death while the perpetrator managed to escape the scene.
This incident has drawn attention from local authorities, and the Homicide Division of Niterói, São Gonçalo, and Itaboraí is currently investigating the case.
