Poll: Leftists continue to govern Paris
A recent Politico poll indicates that Socialist Party candidate Emmanuel Gregoire is set to win the second round of the Paris mayoral elections, thus maintaining leftist control over the French capital.
According to a recent survey conducted by Politico, Emmanuel Gregoire, the candidate from the Socialist Party, is projected to secure 48% of the votes in the second round of the Paris mayoral elections, thereby enabling leftist parties to continue their governance of the city. His main opponent, conservative candidate Rachida Dati, is expected to receive 41% of the votes, while the left-populist party La France Insoumise (LFI) candidate, Sophia Chikirou, is forecast to gather about 11% of the votes. In the first round of the elections, Gregoire had already led Dati by 12 percentage points, showcasing a firm support base for the left.
