Confirmed Coaches for Lithuania's Basketball Youth Teams

Lithuania has announced the coaches for its U16 girls' basketball team, with Deimantas Vailionis at the helm for the upcoming European Championship in Romania.

The Lithuanian Basketball Federation has officially appointed Deimantas Vailionis as the head coach for the U16 girls' national basketball team, which will compete in the upcoming U16 European Championship set to take place in Romania from August 14 to 22. Vailionis, who previously served as an assistant coach under Egidijus Ženevičius with the U20 Lithuanian girls' team, helped lead them to a surprising silver medal finish last summer, showcasing his capacity to develop young talent in the competitive European landscape.

The upcoming championship marks a significant step for the Lithuanian U16 team, especially as they have recently moved up to the elite A division after winning the B division of the European Championship in 2025 under the guidance of coach Edvinas Justa. This upcoming tournament will see the Lithuanian team face off against Slovenia, Germany, and Hungary in Group D, presenting a formidable challenge as they aim to establish themselves among the top teams in Europe.

Furthermore, the Lithuanian basketball community is looking forward to Edvinas Justa’s role as the head coach for the U18 girls' team in the B division European Championship next summer. With new challenges on the horizon and a commitment to nurturing talent, Lithuania continues to invest in its youth programs to ensure future successes in international basketball.
