Eid-al-Fitr: Kwara Muslims hold first prayer after late Chief Imam
Muslim faithful in Kwara State held a significant Eid-el-Fitr prayer marking the end of Ramadan, the first since the passing of the former Chief Imam.
Muslims gathered in large numbers at the Ilorin Emirate Central Praying Ground on Friday to observe the Eid-el-Fitr prayer, celebrating the end of Ramadan. This occasion was particularly poignant as it marks the first Eid celebration since the death of the respected Chief Imam of Ilorin, Sheikh Muhammad Soliu. His passing had left a notable impact on the community, underscoring the importance of the occasion.
The prayer was conducted by Alhaji Abdullahi AbdulAmeen, the Imam Imole of Ilorin Emirate, who led the congregation in prayers for peace, unity, and continued progress throughout Kwara State and Nigeria. The event was attended by numerous clerics, traditional leaders, and residents, all of whom came together to honor the late Imam's contributions to the community and the Islamic faith, which have been substantial since his appointment as Chief Imam in 1983.
As worshippers reflected on the legacy of Sheikh Soliu during the prayers, calls for unity and moral discipline were echoed, highlighting the communal spirit that Ramadan fosters among Muslims. This gathering served not only as a religious obligation but also as a moment for the community to rally together and reaffirm their commitment to mutual support in the wake of loss.
