One Year After the Accident That Left Three Boys Orphaned: A Charity Rally is Being Organized
A year after a tragic accident in Panevėžys that resulted in the deaths of two parents, a charity rally is planned to support their three orphaned children.
On June 23 of the previous year, a tragic accident occurred in Panevėžio district involving a Volkswagen Passat and a motorcycle, resulting in the deaths of a couple who were parents to three children. The accident happened when the motorcycle collided with the Passat, which had veered into oncoming traffic after being struck by another unidentified vehicle that fled the scene. The couple was transported to Panevėžys hospital but unfortunately succumbed to their injuries in the intensive care unit.
Following the incident, local police launched an investigation to locate the fleeing driver, enlisting the help of law enforcement from Panevėžys, Šiauliai, Vilnius, Kaunas, and Alytus. Public support became crucial as numerous witnesses provided video footage from dash cams, which played an important role in identifying the responsible driver. Eventually, the 18-year-old driver of an Opel was found to be at fault, leading to substantial community efforts to support the orphaned children left behind.
In response to this tragedy and to raise funds for the three boys who lost their parents, a charity rally is now being organized. This event aims not only to honor the memory of the deceased parents but also to highlight the importance of community involvement in supporting those in need during difficult times. Such initiatives reflect the resilience of the local community in the face of heartbreaking events and underscore the collective responsibility we share in caring for the vulnerable.
