Kiviselg: The intensity of military operations in Ukraine has significantly increased

The intensity of military operations in Ukraine has noticeably increased due to the onset of the Russian forces' spring offensive, according to Colonel Ants Kiviselg.

Colonel Ants Kiviselg, head of the Estonian Defence Forces' Intelligence Centre, reported a marked increase in military activity in Ukraine, attributed to the start of the Russian spring offensive. He highlighted that the daily and weekly averages of combat engagements have surged from 130-160 contacts in previous weeks to 223 contacts per day as of this week. This escalation signifies a doubling of activity compared to two weeks prior.

Kiviselg provided further insights during a press conference at the Ministry of Defence, noting that particularly intense fighting occurred on the nights of March 17 and 18, with over 230 engagements, and subsequently exceeded 280 contacts on March 18 and 19. This upsurge is linked directly to the commencement of a significant Russian offensive, which has heightened the overall conflict dynamics in the region.

The areas of fiercest combat remain concentrated in the Donetsk region, specifically around Pokrovski, as well as toward Sloviansk and in Zaporizhzhia Oblast near Hulyaipole. This information reflects the ongoing volatility of the situation in Ukraine as Russian forces escalate their military operations, impacting not just the regional landscape but also the broader geopolitical implications of the conflict.
