Jean-Marc Chabloz leaves the biathlon national team
Jean-Marc Chabloz announces his departure from the Swedish biathlon team's coaching staff after serving as the shooting coach since 2020.
Jean-Marc Chabloz, who has been serving as the shooting coach for the Swedish biathlon team since 2020, has announced his departure. This change comes in the wake of the team’s head coach, Johannes Lukas, extending his contract for an additional four years. Chabloz expressed pride in his accomplishments while with the team and noted that he is excited to move on to a new position as site manager on a farm in Jämtland, describing it as a 'dream job.'
Chabloz emphasized that his decision came from a desire to spend more time at home, which has become increasingly difficult due to the demands of coaching. He expressed affection for the team, stating that he leaves 'with the flag at the top' and that his time with the team has been rewarding. The biathlon season is set to conclude with competitions in Holmenkollen, which Chabloz referred to as his 'last dance' with the team.
The team is reportedly in discussions with Jonne Kähkönen, a Finnish coach from Italy, to fill the upcoming vacancy. Chabloz’s departure has led to reactions from several athletes within the team, highlighting the impact he has had during his tenure and the void his absence will create as the team looks to the future of their coaching staff.
