Woman who asked for help on social media was assaulted by psychiatrist for two consecutive days in MG

A 43-year-old woman was assaulted by her psychiatrist husband for two days in Divinópolis, Brazil, before managing to call for help through social media.

In a case of domestic violence that has garnered attention, a 43-year-old woman in Divinópolis, Minas Gerais, was repeatedly assaulted by her husband, a psychiatrist, over the course of two days. The incidents occurred between Saturday and Sunday, with the victim stating that the abuse escalated until she was able to lock herself and her two-year-old daughter in the bathroom and call for help via social media. This brave act of seeking help led to her friend alerting the police, who apprehended the husband in the act of violence.

The police were called to the scene where they found the woman and her daughter in the bathroom, and upon intervention, they had to forcibly enter the apartment to rescue the victims. The psychiatrist, José Lúcio de Abreu Faria Júnior, was arrested by police and has since had his initial detention converted to preventive custody following a custody hearing.
