VIDEO: Drunken police officers in Jelgava call and threaten the victim at night

A victim in Jelgava has reported receiving threatening calls from drunken police officers in the middle of the night, leading to an investigation into their conduct.

In a shocking incident in Jelgava, Latvia, a victim identified as Raitis has come forward to share his experience of receiving threatening phone calls from police officers who were reportedly intoxicated. During these calls, one of the officers, Gatis Skrūzmanis, allegedly used abusive language and made direct threats towards the victim. Raitis initially hung up but received a second call where the officer identified himself, further escalating the situation and making the victim feel unsafe.

Raitis recorded the conversation, which included at least two police officers’ voices, allowing him to provide evidence against their misconduct. The involvement of police officers in such behavior raises serious concerns about professionalism and ethics within law enforcement. The two identified officers, along with another named Sandijs Bečis, were sought for comments by the team of the investigative show 'Bez tabu'." A response from Skrūzmanis indicated a denial of proper identification as a police officer during the calls.

Indulis Blīgzna, the head of the State Police's Zemgale regional division, commented on the incident by labeling the police conduct as unethical, highlighting the need for accountability within the police force. Such incidents undermine public trust and emphasize the necessity for stringent measures to address police misconduct and ensure the protection of citizens from those who are meant to uphold the law.
