A man in his 70s, who embarked on a skiing trek from Kilpisjärvi towards Haltia on March 11, has been reported missing. He was expected to return by March 17 but has not been heard from since setting out. His last known outfit includes a white-brown camouflage suit and he was pulling a noticeable aluminum-colored sled with a brake attached.
The police are actively requesting any sightings or information regarding the man's whereabouts, urging the public to report urgent observations to emergency services by calling the number 112. Additional information can be sent via email or voice message to local police contacts.
This incident highlights the risks associated with winter hiking and skiing in remote areas, especially for elderly individuals. Local authorities are mobilizing resources to locate the missing man, and community vigilance is being encouraged to aid in his safe return.
