Aegean: Higher ticket prices due to Middle East conflict
Airfare increases at AEGEAN Airlines are anticipated due to soaring fuel prices triggered by the conflict in the Middle East.
The ongoing conflict in the Middle East and the war in Iran are contributing to a significant rise in fuel prices, which is directly impacting airfares for travelers. AEGEAN Airlines has announced plans to adjust its ticket prices, aiming for an increase of about 7%-8%. This adjustment comes in response to the substantial uptick in crude oil prices, which have surged from approximately 70 dollars per barrel to 110 dollars, marking a 50% rise. Even more pronounced is the rise in jet fuel prices, which have more than doubled to 1,700 dollars per tonne, a 110% increase, due to disruptions in refinery access and distribution in the Gulf region due to the conflict.
