Scammers extorted 24.8 thousand euros from two people

Two individuals in Lithuania reported being scammed out of a total of 24,800 euros by fraudsters posing as telecommunications and bank employees, as well as police officers.

On Thursday, a man born in 1970 reported to the Vilnius County Police Headquarters that he had been scammed out of 11,800 euros during a phone call from unknown individuals between March 16 and 18 while at home in Vilnius district. The scammers communicated in Lithuanian and Russian, claiming to be employees of a telecommunications company, a bank, and police officers. Meanwhile, another victim, a woman born in 1950, reported a similar incident to the Klaipeda County Police Headquarters, stating that she was scammed out of 13,000 euros from March 9 to 15 in Klaipeda, with the scammers also communicating in Russian and posing as police officers.
