A group of sensitive information about members of parliament has been revealed from the dark web
Sensitive information about Finnish parliament members has been leaked to the dark web following data breaches, including passwords.
Recent investigations reveal that sensitive information about Finnish parliament members has surfaced on the dark web due to data breaches. A study conducted by the Swiss tech company Proton Pass found that often such leaks are linked to popular platforms like LinkedIn, online dating applications, and Dropbox. The research specifically sought out information related to official email addresses of politicians from several countries, including Finland.
In Finland, it has been reported that a total of 88 members of the parliament have fallen victim to these data leaks. Their government email addresses, which are used as credentials for various online services, have been compromised after the platforms suffered data breaches. Notably, during these incidents, 81 passwords that parliament members have used on these sites were leaked online. The extent of this breach raises significant concerns regarding the data protection measures in place for public officials and their digital security practices.
The news has garnered attention in Finland, being first reported by STT, and shows the increasing risks associated with the misuse of digital platforms by public figures. With the vulnerability of personal data of parliament members being exposed, there is a growing demand for stricter cybersecurity regulations to prevent such breaches in the future and to safeguard sensitive information pertaining to public office holders.
