Drought of series in prime time on La 1: one about to premiere and another in production after more than three months without airing any

La 1 of TVE has had a significant gap in scripted series, with only one upcoming premiere and one in production after months of no new content.

La 1, the prime time channel of TVE, has faced a prolonged absence of original scripted series since the conclusion of 'Ena' in December 2025. This hiatus has left viewers without fresh content in the evenings, as there has been no new series produced by RTVE in prime time. The only exception was 'Anatomía de un instante,' which aired once from Movistar Plus+, indicating a troubling trend for the channel's evening programming.

Despite TVE achieving its best audience results in over a decade, the space for scripted series in prime time appears limited. The imminent release of 'Barrio Esperanza' is a notable event for the channel, as it attempts to reinvigorate its prime time slot. Concurrently, another series, the police drama 'Rojo sobre blanco', is currently in production, which may signal a shift in strategy to address the apparent dearth of series content in prime time.

In contrast to the prime time struggles, TVE's afternoon programming has flourished, with series like 'Valle salvaje' and 'La Promesa' thriving and becoming staples of the public channel. This disparity raises questions about TVE's overall strategy for content scheduling and its approach to scripted series in the future, especially as more viewers look for engaging narratives in their evening television lineup.
