Violeta Antolić, affectionately known as Vicky, emerged as a symbol of resistance during the Croatian War of Independence, particularly during the siege of Vukovar. Her story reflects the profound dedication and patriotism that characterized many fighters of that era. As the only woman in the Croatian Defence Forces (HOS), Violeta chose to join the fight at a critical time, leaving her three-year-old son in a shelter to assist in the defense of her city.
