Three flight attendants taken to hospital after Delta flight hits severe turbulence on descent into Sydney
Three flight attendants were hospitalized after experiencing severe turbulence on a Delta flight landing in Sydney, though no passengers were injured.
On Friday morning, three flight attendants were hospitalized following severe turbulence during the descent of Delta flight 41 from Los Angeles to Sydney. The Airbus A350 was carrying 245 passengers and 15 crew members; fortunately, none of the passengers reported injuries. The turbulence occurred just before landing, and the flight safely touched down at Sydney airport after which ambulances were requested for the injured crew members.
According to a spokesperson for Ambulance NSW, paramedics arrived at the airport around 6:45 am and assessed a total of five injured individuals. Three of the flight attendants were taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital with minor injuries affecting various parts of their bodies, while the other two crew members were not transported. Delta Airlines responded to the incident, emphasizing the safety of both their crew and passengers as a top priority and expressing concern for the impacted crew members.
The incident highlights the potential risks associated with air travel, especially during landing, when turbulence can pose threats to crew members who are often moving about the cabin. It's a reminder of the elements pilots and crew members must navigate in ensuring passenger safety. Delta Airlines will likely review the incident to understand what led to the turbulence and to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
