Kim Jong-un and Kim Ju-ae observe 'attack drills' in new tanks... coinciding with the end of the US-South Korea exercises

Kim Jong-un supervised military drills involving new tanks alongside his daughter Kim Ju-ae, coinciding with the conclusion of US-South Korea military exercises.

On September 19th, Kim Jong-un, the Chairman of the Workers' Party of Korea and State Affairs Commission, observed collaborative attack drills conducted by infantry and tank units as well as a demonstration of the capabilities of new main battle tanks. The drills occurred on the last day of the 'Freedom Shield' exercises held by South Korea and the U.S., which have raised tensions in the region. Kim stressed the need to achieve remarkable progress in war preparedness, emphasizing that training has shifted towards more scientific and practical methods.

During the observation, Kim was accompanied by his daughter, Kim Ju-ae, who also participated in events showcasing the military's advancements. The training exercises were aimed at honing combined assault tactics for the infantry and tank divisions, with the goal of expanding attack effectiveness. Various weapons, including unmanned combat vehicles and armor-piercing missiles, were involved in the drills, underscoring North Korea's military capabilities and readiness amidst ongoing geopolitical tensions.

The revelation of the capabilities of the new main battle tanks and their active defense systems was highlighted as a testament to North Korea’s continuous military advancements. The drills included operational practices to strike and capture enemy APCs and emphasized the importance of maintaining peace through military strength, with Kim reiterating the stance that peace must be defended rather than merely desired. This display of military preparedness arguably serves as a direct response to the military exercises by the U.S. and South Korea, further complicating the security dynamics in the region.
