Federal Highway Police officer from PA is arrested on suspicion of receiving R$ 50,000 to take an exam for a candidate in the PM contest of Tocantins
A Federal Highway Police officer in Brazil has been arrested for allegedly accepting R$ 50,000 to sit an exam on behalf of a candidate in a military police recruitment test.
A Federal Highway Police officer was arrested in Marabá, Pará, for his suspected involvement in a fraud scheme related to the Military Police recruitment exam in Tocantins. Investigations revealed that he allegedly accepted R$ 50,000 to take the exam in June 2025 for another candidate. The arrest was part of a larger operation named 'Última Etapa', which took place on Wednesday, involving multiple arrests across different states in Brazil, including Pernambuco, Paraíba, and Goiás, totaling eight individuals.
The fraud was said to have occurred during the first phase of the Military Police recruitment exam conducted on June 15, 2025. Reports indicate that five candidates had paid other individuals to take the initial evaluations on their behalf, with each potentially spending up to R$ 50,000 for this service. This alarming scheme was uncovered when police found discrepancies in fingerprints and signatures taken on the exam day, which did not match previous records filed during other phases of the recruitment process.
The Tocantins Military Police revealed that inconsistencies were flagged by their Organizational Commission, leading to a broader investigation into the scandal. This case highlights ongoing issues related to corruption and fraud in public recruitment processes in Brazil and raises significant concerns regarding the integrity of civil service examinations across the country.
