Bradley John Murdoch, murderer of British tourist Peter Falconio, yelled at police to ‘get out’ before he died in hospital

Notorious killer Bradley John Murdoch refused to reveal the location of his victim's remains as he died in a hospital.

Bradley John Murdoch, convicted of murdering British tourist Peter Falconio, reportedly yelled at police to 'get out' as he lay dying in a hospital from throat cancer. Despite being on his deathbed, Murdoch did not disclose any details about the whereabouts of Falconio's remains, maintaining his silence until the end. The Northern Territory coroner, Elisabeth Armitage, concluded an inquest into Murdoch's death, which took place at the Alice Springs hospital's palliative care unit on July 16, 2025.

Murdoch was serving a life sentence for the heinous crime committed in July 2001, in which he shot Falconio on a remote highway and assaulted Falconio's girlfriend, Joanne Lees. The couple was traveling in their van when Murdoch approached them, falsely claiming there was a mechanical issue to lure them. After shooting Falconio, he restrained Lees and attempted to kidnap her, but she managed to escape by hiding in the nearby bushland for hours while Murdoch searched for her.

This inquest brings closure to a tragic case that has haunted the Australian public and raised concerns over safety in remote areas. Murdoch's refusal to cooperate has left unanswered questions regarding Falconio's remains, continuing the distress for his family and highlighting the unresolved issues surrounding violent crimes in isolated regions of Australia.
