HBL: Porn in Student Facilities - The Student Union Does Not Comment
Reports have emerged that pornographic films have been shown in a student celebration space at Hanken School of Economics in Vaasa, raising concerns among students.
In a controversial revelation, reports from HBL have highlighted that pornographic films have been displayed in the Cella Nova celebration space of the Hanken School of Economics in Vaasa for several years. The content was reportedly shown on a television mounted above the urinals in the men's restroom, which was described by a student as 'really uncomfortable, strange, and hard to understand.' This ongoing practice has raised eyebrows among the student body and has sparked conversations about acceptable behavior in academic environments.
The display of pornography in a public space such as Cella Nova, which is significant for student gatherings and events, has been occurring since the early 2010s. Despite numerous attempts by HBL to elicit comments from the current board of the Student Union of the Swedish School of Economics in Vaasa (SSHV), there has been no response. Cella Nova has been located at its current site near the town square since 2007 and hosts over a hundred events annually for Hanken students and their guests, making the issue particularly concerning for the institution's reputation.
Moreover, this incident is not isolated; it reflects a broader issue of sexual harassment and inappropriate behavior reported by students across various fields, including those studying medicine. This trend raises serious questions about the culture within educational institutions and the need for stronger measures to protect students from harassment and create a safe, respectful environment in academic settings.
