This analysis was supported by the expertise of 100 professionals in various fields and took into account numerous factors, including affordability, happiness, access to cultural activities, and the quality of nightlife in each city.

In the 2026 ranking, Melbourne, Australia, secured the first place, with its residents praising the city for hosting significant sporting events such as the Australian Open and the recent opening of the Metro Tunnel. This strong appreciation from the local population is reflected in the high ratings they gave to the city’s dining scene, where 94% of residents rated it positively, and the art offerings, which were lauded by 92% of respondents.

Other cities showcased in the ranking include Shanghai, which came in second, and additional global destinations that highlight a variety of cultural offerings and lifestyle benefits. The methodology behind the report emphasizes the importance of resident satisfaction in the selection process, showcasing that a city's appeal is often rooted not just in its attractions, but also in how its people feel about their living environments.
