Klæbo's popularity exploded in the United States – Then came the cold shower
Norwegian ski star Johannes Klæbo faced setbacks during his recent trip to the United States despite his rising popularity there.
Norwegian ski sensation Johannes Klæbo has made a name for himself in the United States, but his recent visit did not go as planned. Following a serious fall during the sprint event in Drammen last week, he was sidelined due to a concussion, making him skip the World Cup weekend at Holmenkollen, which raised concerns about his participation in upcoming competitions.
Although it was confirmed on Wednesday that Klæbo will compete in the World Cup events in Lake Placid, his American trip has been marred by complications. Reports from skiing-focused outlet Fasterskier indicate that Klæbo had to cancel a media tour originally scheduled for the early part of the week, which included major outlets such as CNN, NBC, New York Times, and Wall Street Journal—all of which would have contributed to boosting his profile.
Klæbo's late arrival in the United States was the primary reason for this unfortunate turn of events, as he did not land until Wednesday. His advisor, Lasse Gimnes, commented on the situation but it remains clear that despite the initial excitement surrounding Klæbo's visit, the incident has put a damper on his promotional activities in one of his key markets.
