MPMT opens investigation to investigate the expenditure of R$ 1 million with the Flor Ribeirinha group on a trip to the US

The Public Ministry of Mato Grosso has launched an investigation into the expenditure of R$ 1 million for the participation of the Flor Ribeirinha cultural group in a US event.

The Public Ministry of Mato Grosso (MPMT) has initiated an investigation regarding the estimated expenditure of R$ 1 million related to the Flor Ribeirinha cultural group's participation in an event held in the United States in July 2025. This inquiry was prompted by allegations indicating possible irregularities surrounding the contracting processes and agreements established by the Adjunct Tourism Secretariat within the State Department of Economic Development (Sedec).

The allegations point out that an initial contract for R$ 500,000 was executed without a public bidding process, supposedly based on the engagement of a professional within the artistic sector. Following this, a subsequent agreement of R$ 505,000 was reached to cover costs for travel, lodging, and daily expenses incurred by the group during their time in the USA.

As per the report, G1 attempted to reach out to both Sedec and the Flor Ribeirinha group for comments and clarifications on the matter, but no responses had been provided by either party at the time of the story's last update. The outcome of this investigation could have significant implications for public accountability and oversight regarding cultural funding and event participation.
