Government increases age ratings for eight social networks

The Brazilian Ministry of Justice and Public Security has announced an adjustment in the age ratings for eight popular social media platforms, increasing the recommended ages for their users. Notably, the platform Quora has seen its age rating rise from 12 to 18 years, reflecting concerns over the content available on the site. Other platforms, including TikTok and Kwai, have also been reclassified, with their recommended ages increasing from 14 to 16 years, while LinkedIn, Pinterest, and Snapchat now require users to be at least 16 years old instead of 12. WhatsApp and Messenger's age recommendations have been shifted from 12 to 14 years.
