Bendika in 32nd place. Latvia does not gain the fourth quota

Latvian biathlete Baiba Bendika finished 32nd in the 7.5 km sprint at the last stage of the World Cup biathlon season in Norway.

In a recent biathlon event held in Norway, Latvian athlete Baiba Bendika achieved a 32nd place finish in the 7.5 km sprint, with fellow Latvian athletes Sanita Buliņa and Annija Keita Sabule placing 99th and 106th respectively. The competition took place in warm weather conditions, and the top three finishers all had perfect shooting records, with Swedish athlete Hanna Öberg clinching first place after crossing the finish line in just over 20 minutes. Italy's Lisa Vitoci took second place, finishing 5.3 seconds behind, while Öberg's sister, Elvira, secured the third position.

French biathlete Julia Simon, who finished sixth in this sprint event, had already locked in the overall crystal globe for the season, which is given to the top performer across all events. Simon's closest rival, Finnish athlete Suvi Minkinen, finished in 11th place. Bendika started strong with accurate shooting while lying down, ranking ninth after the first shooting stage but incurred two mistakes in the standing position, ultimately finishing just under two minutes behind the winner. Despite her efforts, the results of this competition meant that Latvia would not secure a fourth quota for future events, indicating challenges ahead for the team going into the next season.
