Austrian biathlete Simon Eder has announced his retirement from professional sports, joining fellow athlete Lisa Theresa Hauser in stepping away from competitive biathlon.

Simon Eder, a prominent figure in the world of biathlon, has declared his retirement from the sport, following the announcement by fellow athlete Lisa Theresa Hauser. Eder, who is 43 years old, stated his decision was made in recent days, attributing it to a culmination of thoughts about his career. Known for his exceptional shooting accuracy, Eder debuted in the World Cup during the 2002/03 season and has since established a remarkable career, including three individual World Cup victories and 15 podium finishes.

Throughout his career, Eder has also excelled in relay events, contributing to his team's success with five relay victories and a total of 26 podium finishes in various competitions. He has represented Austria in two Winter Olympics, winning a silver medal in men's relay at both the 2010 Vancouver Games and the 2014 Sochi Games. Additionally, Eder has earned an impressive record at the World Championships, securing two silver and three bronze medals, showcasing his status as one of the sport's elite competitors.
