Elections for the rectorship of Ufac take place this Thursday (19); find out who can vote
The elections for the rectorship at the Federal University of Acre (Ufac) will be held online this Thursday, allowing eligible faculty, administrative staff, and students to vote until 21:00.
This Thursday, the Federal University of Acre (Ufac) will conduct its elections for the positions of rector and vice-rector for the quadrennium 2026-2030, with voting taking place online from 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM. The official results of the elections are set to be announced on Friday, September 20. Three candidates are competing for the community's vote, making it crucial for eligible voters to engage in the process to influence the leadership of the institution.
Eligible voters include faculty members and administrative staff currently employed, as well as students who are enrolled in undergraduate and graduate programs, as well as those in the Application School, provided they are at least 16 years old on the date of the election. Voting is facilitated through the Helios Voting System on the official Ufac elections website, requiring voters to log in using their ID-UFAC, which combines their CPF (Brazilian individual taxpayer registry) and institutional password. This online process allows for broader participation and aims to expedite the electoral procedure within the university.
To win in the first round, a candidate must secure more than 50% of valid votes. If no candidate achieves this, a second round of voting is scheduled for March 26, involving the top two candidates. The first register of candidates, referred to as 'Radical Γ© a MudanΓ§a!' indicates a dynamic campaign effort aiming to alter the course of Ufacβs administration, indicating that the elections are not only significant for the university community but also reflect larger trends in Brazilian higher education governance.
