Høiby's defender believes he should be sentenced to one year and six months in prison

On the final court day in the case against Marius Borg Høiby, his lawyer requested a maximum prison sentence of one year and six months.

In a significant legal proceeding, Marius Borg Høiby, son of the Norwegian Crown Princess, faced allegations that include multiple counts of violence and drug transportation. During the last court session, his defense attorney, Ellen Holager Andenæs, argued for a maximum imprisonment of one year and six months, asserting that Høiby should be acquitted of all charges except for transporting drugs and assault against a woman referred to as the Frogner woman, both of which he has admitted to. This plea comes in the wake of the prosecution demanding a considerably harsher sentence of seven years and seven months, which encompasses 39 charges, including four counts of rape.

The defense maintains that even if Høiby is convicted on all counts, a sentence of five to six years should suffice, contending that the gravity of the offenses does not warrant the maximum penalties sought by the prosecution. This case has attracted substantial media attention due to its high-profile nature, given Høiby's royal connections. Now, the judges will deliberate on the verdict, with reports suggesting that it may take several months before a decision is announced, leaving many eager to see the outcome of this publicized trial and its potential implications for the members of the royal family and public perceptions of them.
